About Kiesha

Kiesha lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband and two school aged boys. She enjoys takeout Friday and quality time with her family when she is not teaching yoga.

Over the past seven years Kiesha has created yoga programs, lead yoga retreats, managed the daily operations of a yoga studio, and was recently appointed as Co-Director of the Yoga Retreat for Women of Color at Kripalu Retreat Center.

Kiesha is Yoga in Action and walks the path of a Kriya Yoga.

Her classes offer work, self-study, and ultimately surrender. Kiesha infuses accessible yin and yang approaches to the study and practice of asana, pranayama, mudra, mantra, and yin and yang energy.

What do you want to be as you walk into this day? Kiesha Battles has been answering this question for over 25 years through study and practice of Taoism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Yoga.

In 2016, Kiesha was honored as an inaugural Self-Care Charlotte Ambassador. In her role, she promotes self-care for the purpose of nurturing healthy lives and relationships for individuals, families, and communities. In 2018, she was appointed Co-Director of the Yoga Retreat for Women of Color™ and in 2020 to the Board of Directors for Amplify and Activate.

Known to many as the original black girl yoga magic, Kiesha is a humble soul who connects to all beings first at their core.

I have had the absolute pleasure of receiving my Yin Yoga Training, virtually, with Mrs Kiesha virtually as she has tailored her trainings to our current environment to suit the needs of anyone wishing to complete yoga trainings. She is a very patient, knowledgeable, sweet soul. As I grow in my own yoga journey, especially in today’s climate, it is my duty & honor to support this beautiful woman of color who has made it her duty to create safe space for those within the black community. I look forward to her continued guidance as I prepare in the future to pursue my 300hr YTT. If you wish to support I AM YOGA via taking any of her offered trainings or simply to donate to support the yoga community in North Carolina, you can visit www.kieshabattles.com
