BIDEN/HARRIS 2020-1st Madam Vice President

If this isn’t a beautiful example of a butterfly effect, I’m not sure what is. We are all familiar with Uncle Joe (Joe Biden) due to his Vice Presidency with Barak Obama. The historic beauty of THIS election however, goes without saying. A biracial woman of South Asian & African American decent that has become the 1st woman Vice President Elect is simply indescribable in nature.

Many of us are aware of who Joe Biden is & his record. My 6 year old daughter, Antoinette, has seen and heard more than her fair share of mommy cussing at the tv but when Joe Biden comes across that screen, she’s quick to say, “Mom!! Joe Biden is a good guy!! He’s our new president!!” I smile because she understands somewhat of the nature of the time. What I’m blessed to have her see is the absolute obvious, which I will get to shortly. Most know Joe Biden has been in public service for almost 50 years! I will not get into why so many folks find it hard to support Biden. These same folks couldn’t bring themselves to support Clinton, and we ended up with 45( his name will not be spoken here). Here’s a twisted butterfly effect for you. A friend of mine stated, that 45 had to get elected to show all who didn’t quite understand that racism is alive & well had to be exposed to it front and center. Get a mix of continued killings from police brutality, heightened racial injustices across the national board, a global pandemic and a recession, not to mention the blatant disregard for the truest needs of the American people & an administration that strokes 45’s ego every chance they get, I’d like to assume the 80million+ people who voted for Biden/Harris had had enough of 45’s shit.

Joe Biden’s character alone is refreshing due to his empathetic nature. He served as the 47th vice president under Obama Administration. He served in the Senate representing Delaware from 1973-2009. He became a widower after the death of his 1st wife & daughter Naomi were killed in a car crash a few weeks after he was elected to the senate in 1972. In 2015, he lost one of his sons due to a brain tumor & had decided not to seek what would be his 3rd presidential bid for the WH. If I attempted to mention all of Biden’s accomplishments, we’d be here all day. Google it.

Now let’s get to the meat of this post…Madam Vice President Elect Kamala Harris-biracial woman of South Asian(mother) and African American(father-Jamaican) decent & has quite the resume herself. Let’s dive in, shall we?

“In 2017, Kamala D. Harris was sworn in as a United States Senator for California, the second African-American woman and first South Asian-American senator in history. She serves on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, the Select Committee on Intelligence, the Committee on the Judiciary, and the Committee on the Budget.

Kamala has spent her life fighting injustice. It’s a passion that was first inspired by her mother, Shyamala, an Indian-American immigrant, activist, and breast cancer researcher.

Growing up in Oakland, Kamala had a stroller-eye view of the Civil Rights movement. Through the example of courageous leaders like Thurgood Marshall, Constance Baker Motley, and Charles Hamilton Houston, Kamala learned the kind of character it requires to stand up to the powerful, and resolved to spend her life advocating for those who could not defend themselves.

After earning an undergraduate degree from Howard University and a law degree from the University of California, Hastings, she began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.

In 2003, Kamala became the District Attorney of the City and County of San Francisco. Among her achievements as District Attorney, Harris started a program that gives first-time drug offenders the chance to earn a high school diploma and find employment.

Having completed two terms as the District Attorney of San Francisco, Kamala was elected as the first African-American and first woman to serve as California's Attorney General. In this role, she worked tirelessly to hold corporations accountable and protect the state’s most vulnerable people.

Over the course of her nearly two terms in office, Kamala won a $25-billion settlement for California homeowners hit by the foreclosure crisis, defended California’s landmark climate change law, protected the Affordable Care Act, helped win marriage equality for all Californians, and prosecuted transnational gangs that trafficked in guns, drugs, and human beings.

In the United States Senate, Kamala’s mission remains unchanged: fighting for the rights of all communities in California. Since taking office, she has introduced and cosponsored legislation to raise wages for working people, reform our broken criminal justice system, make healthcare a right for all Americans, address the epidemic of substance abuse, support veterans and military families, and expand access to childcare for working parents.

It’s the privilege of Kamala’s life to work on behalf of the people of California. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Doug Emhoff, and is stepmother to Ella and Cole Emhoff.”

Let me not forget something that would get me called out if I don’t mention it…Madam Vice President Elect is D9 AKA! I can assure you on inauguration day, you will surely here the collective “SKEEEEEEWWEEEEE!!!” from all her supportive Sorors!!! PREPARE YOUR EARS!!! LOL

But the sole purpose of this post is….my daughters & son, and many black & brown girls and young women around the nation, around the globe get to witness the significance of this moment in history. Barak Obama broke the mold. Kamala Harris has shattered that glass ceiling! The positive ripple effect this election has is beyond monumental! To be honest, the United States is somewhat behind the rest of other developed countries having women, in general, in power.

I not only believe Biden knew what he was doing when he made Harris his running mate, to solidify his ticket, but he saw something the nation needs to see up close and damn personal. His choice was perfect for these times we face. Their teaming up spoke volumes- unity, diversity, experience, stability, leadership, progressive, compassion, empathy, & selflessness. All things coalesced for a time such as now. Just as 45 was purposed during his term, I believe his term was what provided the pivot that was necessary to allow for what we are now watching unfold with the Biden/Harris administration. Lemme let this young brotha break her credentials down….FOR THE CULTURE…
